Recording Settings

Configure how ClipMac captures your gameplay.

What to Record#

Choose your capture mode before starting a recording:

ModeDescriptionBest For
Full ScreenRecords your entire display, including all windows and appsMulti-tasking, alt-tabbing between games and apps
Game OnlyRecords only the selected game window(s), hiding everything elseClean recordings, streaming, privacy

Note: You must select this setting before starting a new recording. It cannot be changed mid-recording.

Replay Buffer#

The replay buffer determines how far back you can save clips using Instant Replay or Capture Clip.

TierMaximum Buffer
Free30 seconds
Basic10 minutes
Pro30 minutes

How it works: ClipMac continuously records in the background while the buffer is active. When you trigger a clip capture, it saves from this buffer — so you never miss a moment.

Tip: Longer buffers use more memory and disk space. For most gaming, 2-5 minutes is sufficient.

Clip Durations#

Configure the default length for each capture action:

ActionDefaultDescription
Instant Replay15 secondsQuick captures for highlights
Capture Clip30 secondsLonger captures for extended moments

Both actions save from the replay buffer — the only difference is duration. Adjust these using the sliders in the Recording section of the dashboard.
